ok i looked into it more and apparently running two things on ur vps is more complicated than i thought so i might just shrink into a corn cob instead

@mae you definitely want a reverse proxy for that stuff (I use nginx on my box), plus I recommend figuring out the basics for docker and docker-compose, they’re great

@adam caddy is a reverse proxy, no? i already have that from the league setup guide. so i could convert akkoma over to docker along with freshrss.

@mae @adam I like Docker (and containers in general) myself, although it does have its peculiarities and occasional inexplicable errors.

@mae it is, yeah

converting akkoma to docker shouldn’t be too hard, the container is basically the source install, but, well, in a container, you literally just bind mount your source dir and it builds from that

@tenna @mae yea, it does have its quirks, but it’s generally awesome and greatly simplifies running things

@adam @tenna well that didn't go well
installing docker was fine, but the docs for migrating akkoma were not great for me. when i give it another go i'll probably ask y'all for some help

@mae @tenna I know that I had to do a bit of Fuckery to get some stuff to work in docker (not a lot, it was mostly just removing a line from the db init file because postgres didn’t have an extension, I can just add it later if needed)

but other than that, it was a mostly standard setup (except I’m running the compose file from the parent directory instead of directly from the akkoma dir). I could probs drop my compose file and other required stuff if needed

@adam @tenna it’s probably just that the guide was too vague for me. assuming that i know stuff that i most definitely do not, nyahaha
