update: openRSS kind of sucks a little bit actually. i have like just shy of 20 bluesky feeds in my reader from them, and apparently they decided that my reader was making too many requests that they blocked my IP. i went through a discussion with them and they said that requests to feeds on openrss need to be “spread out by at least a couple of seconds”. i don’t know how many rss readers do this, nor how to tell if a reader does or does not do this. there are settings about “concurrent downloads”, but nothing about staggering requests to have an acceptable delay between them. i would understand if the issue was too many requests all at once, or too many requests within a certain time period, but this odd metric that doesn’t appear to be under my control is just obnoxious.

maybe i’m just stupid. but it honestly makes me not want to use openRSS feeds anymore because now i just have this fucked up paranoia about how i update my feeds.

@KaydeArcane I personally self host rssbridge and just use that, it’s Pretty Good™ and since it’s self hosted, you don’t have to worry about rate limits and other limitations like that
