I get that for most of the kind of person who is going to run their own “music streaming server” running files through MusicBrainz first is a feature, but I sorely wish Navidrome had tag editing. What I really want is OG iTunes but hosted on my NAS.

it's early days, but I think I'm breaking up with Plexamp; Plex just doesn't have the respect for my music library I want, Navidrome does, and while its default UI is pretty objectively terrible, alternate UI project Feishin does more or less what I need it to

as iTunes Match continues to rot on the vine as more Apple Music features interfere I have been trying to find a good replacement, and sadly none really exist yet that cover the hybrid stream-download-sync system I have enjoyed from iTunes Match. Navidrome + Feishin + Amperfy come close.

p.s. if you know of an existing tool/script to import play counts (from iTunes or a last.fm export) into Navidrome's stats, please lmk!

@ticky there’s a bunch of beets plugins that allow importing play counts from places, but I’m not sure if it can actually write them in a way accessible and understandable to navidrome

@adam yeah that tends to be metadata held outside the files, so it doesn’t tend to be too portable unfortunately

I wonder how hard it’d be to move the data from beets to navidrome tbh, both use a sqlite database, and it’d probably be possible to cross reference things like MBIDs to find the right tracks
