does anyone have any good RSS readers? the one i was using started putting AI ads in the top bar and now won’t let me add new feeds without making an account. (everyone always talks about how RSS is great, but it’s impossible to find good readers nowadays…) it doesn’t need to be built-in to a browser or anything, i’d actually prefer having a standalone.

@Duorogue i was a bit worried because feedbro .com advertises itself as “Product Feed Optimization for E-commerce Growth” with a bunch of tiered pricing plans, but i think that whole page is an AI-generated scam that’s built off the real feedbro which is completely different? (and the real one’s inactive as of a few years ago which is why the scam site has been able to take over.) the chrome/vivaldi extension doesn’t work anymore though so it’s irrelevant either way… but i think every extension is about to break actually so i might end up on firefox or one of its forks pretty soon anyway

@AzureLazuline Feedbro extension for firefox is what I use, but I don’t know of any standalone ones.

@AzureLazuline @Duorogue I been using waterfox as my browser, a more immediately nice version of waterfox, and still a few plugins i like. dark reader, indie wiki buddy, uBlock Origin, etc. Firefox works as well but it has a lot of setting to tweak to feel usable comparably ill say.

@AzureLazuline I personally recently got freshrss up n running, but that might not be what you want, since it does require selfhosting (it is, however, very powerful)

feeder is a good standalone one on android though, has an option to fetch full articles too (useful if you got truncated feeds) currently also testing out capy reader and readrops (for freshrss integration, but they can also work standalone)

I unfortunately do not know any good standalone ones on PC, I mostly use my phone to keep up with my RSS feeds
