stories like this remind me of the big IEEE Spectrum article from about two years ago about people with bionic eyes having the company that created them explode, leaving them to either get the technology removed, hope for the best, or DIY any issues for as long as possible. it's all kind of a super fucked up industry

as for post privacy: you should have a few buttons right below the post editor textbox, the smaller ones change the post privacy and the larger ones let you do other stuff; the envelope button is direct, and it’ll only send to users mentioned in the post - if you don’t mention anyone, it’s only visible to you and can essentially function as a draft

later, you can edit the message to change its privacy level to something that’s not direct, and it’ll be visible to the audience targeted by the chosen privacy level (or you can delete and redraft if you want to reset the timestamp, akkoma does also have that button)

@mae @tenna I know that I had to do a bit of Fuckery to get some stuff to work in docker (not a lot, it was mostly just removing a line from the db init file because postgres didn’t have an extension, I can just add it later if needed)

but other than that, it was a mostly standard setup (except I’m running the compose file from the parent directory instead of directly from the akkoma dir). I could probs drop my compose file and other required stuff if needed
