PSA for Akkoma instance ops: we just found out that the internal relay Works and Behaves as Expected with the allowlist. this’ll definitely help with federation and discovery

here’s how to set it up:

• enable Allow Relay in the instance settings (or :instance, allow_relay: true in the config)
• you might wanna announce that you did that, so other instance ops know that you can subscribe
• subscribe to other akkoma instances’ relays by adding their relay URL (https://instance.tld/relay, needs to be the “real” URL for split domain setups) in relays, you can refresh the list after a few seconds, if Followed back changes to a ✓, it’s working

@exerian @donutboxers it’s more nuanced than that, it’s true if the instance hasn’t fetched the posts yet, but if another user on the instance already is following you, then said instance already has the posts posted since then and can display them

it's getting cold, so I started running protein folding on my desktop again, and it's stupid how effective those things are at being space heaters, especially the one with a GPU

(space heater that also does some biomedical research :) )
