@cyclar2 it’s a thing in akkoma, and it might be a thing in other gts frontends maybe? you might wanna shop around for those

@EstrogenAndSpite @viv you could potentially also poke the instance owner and ask them if they can increase the limits, most owners probably just picked a random large-ish number and wouldn’t mind increasing em

@EstrogenAndSpite @viv actually, the text limit on your instance seems to be 20k; I’ve personally set mine to 50k outgoing and 1M incoming

It's interesting to see a fediverse (that is, not The Fediverse, but a collection of AP nodes) built mostly by people who do not have intimate familiarity with AP and AP software.

Some things, like the speed with which the network has been built, are really heartening. Other things, like needing some centralized tools that aren't really possible on an open-world network like The Fediverse, make sense. And then there are the back-and-forth interactions about whether or not Mastodon has an undisclosed bug, or whether it's possible to do X or Y on GoToSocial, that wouldn't exist if either the documentation were better or there was more institutional knowledge involved in the Website League.

It's not a bad thing; it's an inherent part of new people, building something new. But as someone who has been around The Fediverse since before the inception of ActivityPub, it's very, very interesting.

@meow @vision yeah, apparently gotosocial can’t do relays right now, otherwise we could just slap a relay onto this whole thing and p much have it work

@nora here’s some (those are set up for akkoma, but you should be able to grab the raw images to add em to gts)

@glabemoon you’d need separate accounts, but a lot of clients do support that just fine

@tenna @mae same here, let me know if you need help, I do have a bunch of experience with that stuff

@spdx_wl I generally just use rclone for p much all my gdrive stuff, and if you want live sync with that, then you could probs set up a cronjob for rclone sync for almost-live sync or do rclone mount fuckery

service monitoring has its ups and downs

@tenna @mae yea, it does have its quirks, but it’s generally awesome and greatly simplifies running things

@mae it is, yeah

converting akkoma to docker shouldn’t be too hard, the container is basically the source install, but, well, in a container, you literally just bind mount your source dir and it builds from that

Heyyy setting up here. I'm pretty sure #heycohost is completely redundant here.

Gonna try and find as many people as I can here.
